The purpose of this session is several fold. It is indended to present a variety of methods for capacitity building, retrieving Healthy People 2010-related research through pre-formulated PubMed Search strategies and Evidence-Based practice - and through a Web-based portal. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in monitoring and evaluating key MCH indicators is also discussed. | |||
Learning Objectives: Participants in this session will: 1) be able to describe capacity building efforts within an organization, efforts that include raising awareness about evaluation, reviewing current practice, developing evaluation models, tools and templates, conducting evaluation case studies and, communicating results. 2) be able to retrieve Healthy People 2010-related research through a NLM web site offering pre-formulated PubMed search strategies and links to evidence-based clinical and community preventive service guidelines. 3) Recognize the value of GIS in monitoring and evaluating key MCH indicators. 4) determine ways public health planners can use tools and resources on the site to plan, track, and achieve Healthy People 2010 environmental health objectives and show examples of state efforts using the Healthy People 2010 environmental health objectives. | |||
