State Rankings for Health: Methods and Issues
The panel will discuss the content and composition of the annual editions of America's Health: United Health Foundation State Health Rankings: Topics to be discussed include the selection of Risk Factors and Outcomes that are used to construct the rankings; the methods employed to measure these items; and the conclusions that can be derived from the 2003 edition of the report.
Learning Objectives: 1.) The participants will recognize the risk factors and the outcomes used to construct the state health rankings for 2003, and the rationale behind their selection. 2.) The participants will understand how risk factors and outcomes used to construct the state health rankings for 2003 were measured and the margins of error in these measures. 3.) The participants will understand the justification behind the conclusions reached on the state health rankings for 2003.
