In this session, the learner will see posters related to various chronic conditions that create substantial burdens to the general population. These conditions include dementia, cancer, gestational diabetes mellitus, diabetes, erectile dysfunction, and obesity. Study populations include young adults as well as those over 50. | |||
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) will be able to: 1. Evaluate the efficacy of omega-3 fatty acid consumption as an intervention in the maintenance of cognitive function in normal aging as well as the incidence and treatment of dementia 2. better understand the risk factors for renal cell carcinoma 3. To assess the relationship between neighborhood deprivation and the rate of gestational diabetes mellitus 4. Understand the potential impact of aging and sex steroid levels on erectile function and libido 5. Evaluate the association between diabetes mellitus and 30-day coronary artery bypass graft complications 6. discuss burden of some selected chronic disease in the world and in developing countries 7. discuss burden of some selected chronic disease in the world and in developing countries 8. hear that women with gestational diabetes are at risk for diabetes 9. Identify the health risk behaviors reported by the U.S. young adult population using BRFSS data 10. To understand the use of Geographic information Systems (GIS) in mapping distribution of obesity and its various risk factors particularly in the over 50 age group. | |||
