In this session, papers will be presented on the impact of war on public health and on actions that public health workers can take to help prevent war and its adverse health consequences. Presentations will address the health impact of specific recent wars on civilian populations and the military, including the war in Iraq and the situation in Darfur; the role of physicians in the military; and new threats related to militarism and military policy in the United States. | |||
Learning Objectives: At the end of the session, participants will be able to recognize the impact of war on public health and identify actions public health workers can take to prevent war and its public health consequences. | |||
