Oral
Statistical Methods for Screening for Cancer Onset and Recurrence
This session will focus on statistical issues in the screening for cancer onset and progression. Speakers will discuss the validity of breast cancer screening studies, and the use of longitudinal serum biomarkers for screening for ovarian cancer onset and prostate cancer recurrence.
Learning Objectives: Understand that there is experimental evidence that screening for breast cancer reduces the risk of death from breast cancer. Understand that use of longitudinal serum biomarker behavior may enhance the sensitivity for early detection of ovarian cancer. Understand that joint modeling of longitudinal PSA and clinical recurrence can be used to estimate the distribution of time to future clinical recurrence given longitudinal PSA.
