Health Promotion for Older Adults
The focus of this session is the fast growing segment of older citizens. Session presenters will focus on how local agencies are working to improve the health and quality-of-life of seniors and how the aging baby boomers will impact the health care system. Presenters will also discuss working with low-income women and cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis screening of specific population groups.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1. Describe the impact of the “baby boom” population on future health care needs. 2. Identify five health or socioeconomic concerns of the older adult. 3. Describe challenges to working with older adults with regard to osteoporosis screening and cardiovascular disease.
