Disparities in health outcomes create important challenges for health promotion. The speakers in this session will discuss various programs that address health disparities and involve communities in preventive strategies. Individual presentations will describe interventions to prevent infectious and chronic diseases. Presenters will also discuss the role of health professionals in preventing health disparities through research and increasing the number of minorities in academic programs. | |||
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1. Discuss factors associated with health disparities among various age and ethnic groups. 2. Assess the impact of health disparities on infectious and non-infectious diseases. 3. Identify strategies for reducing health disparities through research and practice. | |||
