Dr. Alice M. Horowitz's vision about oral health promotion has extended beyond the United States of America. This presentation will elaborate on her contributions to the development of oral health promotion programs and dental education in Thailand. Specifically, this presentation will use key strategies of the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion (WHO, 1986) and the Bangkok Charter for Health Promotion in a Globalized World (WHO, 2005) as an outline to show comprehensive actions of Dr. Horowitz, as well as her visionary, human-sensitivity, and endless efforts toward a healthier world.

Learning Objectives:
1. discuss the need for comprehensive actions and practice-based evidence for promoting oral health, and 2. discuss the importance of participatory, context-sensitive and effective communication processes to the success of oral health promotion.
