This Session, sponsored by the international peer reviewed journal, Public Health and Elsevier Science, will offer insight into the challenges for public health in political environments around the world, including the UK and elsewhere in Europe. Our expert international panel of speakers brings a wealth of experience of working in health policy at national and international levels. Politics and policy are culturally defined and this interactive session will demonstrate contrasts and similarities between the US experience and the experiences of other countries, with many lessons to be learned by all.
Session Objectives: The audience will gain a good understanding of the health policy making environments in different jurisdictions. They will gain insight into the particular challenges facing public health specialists in influencing health policy, and how those challenges can be met, from both academic and governmental perspectives.
