5097.0 Featured Project Session: Healthy Eating, Active Communities: A Multi-sectoral Approach to Improving Food and Physical Activity Environments in Communities

This session will feature six talks focused on The Healthy Eating, Active Communities program and it’s approach to addressing the current epidemic of childhood obesity.
Session Objectives: • Articulate the need for programs that involve multiple ‘sectors’ within which communities should work to address childhood obesity • Understand the benefits of working with a neighborhood school • Describe an approach to participatory assessment • Describe the importance of decision-making champions • Explain a strategy for engaging youth in advocacy
