3277.2 Critical HIV Care and Prevention Issues

How best to treat and care for persons diagnosed with HIV/AIDS remains paramount. The posters in this session address factors relating to treatment and care. Topics covered are as follows: (1) impact of gender-based violence and gender inequality on the spread of HV among HIV positive women residing in Africa; (2) examine impact of healthcare providers attitudes and perceptions on the care received by newly diagnosed HIV youth; (3) identify and discuss the diverse settings wherein MSM and heterosexual men and women receive HIV testing and counseling; (4) identify key determinants of HIV among underserved, international populations; (5) discuss the relationships between HIV and other diseases (e.g., TB); and (6) the role religion plays.
Session Objectives: 1. Recognize factors associated with HIV transmission among persons residing outside of the US 2. Describe barriers faced by HIV positive persons. 3. Discuss different treatment options available to HIV positive persons
