Asian & Pacific Islander Disparities in Infectious/Communicable Disease
Monday, November 9, 2009: 4:30 PM
Poster
Infectious and communicable diseases remain a large concern for Asian and Pacific Islander communities in the United States. Given the emergence of new viruses and heightened resistance of existing infections to therapies, comprehensive knowledge of and targeted approaches toward disparities among Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States must continued to be explored and implemented. Such activities will be elucidated in this session.
Session Objectives: At the end of this session, participants will be able to: (1) Understand risk factors and the epidemiology of infectious and communicable diseases among Asian & Pacific Islander communities; and (2) discuss community strategies aimed to reduce Asian & Pacific Islander health disparities in infectious and communicable diseases, including hepatitis B and tuberculosis.
