4013.0 Evaluation of faith-based public health interventions

The purpose of this oral session is to highlight evaluation of faith-based public health interventions. As interest in the role that faith communities can play in public health, it is important to evaluate faith-based public health interventions to inform future efforts. The presentations all describe faith-based public health interventions that have been developed collaboratively and address diverse outcomes – e.g., disaster preparedness, HIV/AIDS, and nutrition and fitness. Diverse methods for evaluating these interventions are also described.
Session Objectives: 1. Describe key components of faith-based public health interventions and methods for evaluating them 2. Identify methods for obtaining participant input into faith-based public health interventions. 3. Describe different ways that public health researchers and practitioners can partner with faith communities to address health.
