3184.0 Marijuana and Today’s Youth: Challenges in the face of “medicinal” use and potential legalization

Medical marijuana poses a challenge for public health researchers and practitioners and there is little research to guide our decisions on how to proceed. The research lags behind the community needs for policy approaches to address the recent adoption of medical marijuana in several states.
Session Objectives: Attendees of this session will be able to describe: Issues and challenges related to medicinal designation of marijuana Challenges and community responses related to dispensaries located in communities Current research on marijuana Marijuana's treatment in the 2010 National Drug Control Strategy Needed future research
