3381.0 SPECIAL SESSION: National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine at NIH Grants Workshop

Dr. Wendy Weber, N.D., Ph.D., M.P.H., Program Director in the Division of Extramural Research at the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), National Institutes of Health will present a special grants workshop on Monday, November 8th 4:30pm - 6pm. Those interested in applying for federal funding for complementary and alternative medicine research are encouraged to attend! Dr. Weber will provide an overview of the various research programs available at NCCAM and describe the research priority areas and grant opportunities in CAM at the NIH and how they are applicable to the field of public health. Information about specific grant mechanisms, preparing an application, and highlights of the review process will be discussed. There will be ample time during this training session for discussion and questions. This session is open to all members of APHA and all annual meeting attendees are invited.
Session Objectives: Describe the research priorities for complementary and alternative medicine at the NIH. Discuss 2 grant mechanisms and the method to apply for them. Explain the grant review process at NCCAM.
