Monday, October 31, 2011: 12:30 PM
Oral
Component I of the CDC’s National Public Health Improvement Initiative (NPHII) requested that each of the 75 state, tribal, local and territorial health department grantees designate or hire a full-time equivalent Performance Improvement Manager (PIM) and participate in a national network of performance improvement professionals. This session will discuss the role and purpose of the PIM Network, the Network’s primary aim and key Network activities. CDC staff will share their experiences with creating and supporting the PIM Network in a field-drive way. PIM Network members will discuss how participation in the Network has influenced their improvement efforts and provide examples of their activities along with lessons learned.
Session Objectives: 1) Describe how the PIM Network supports the efforts of performance management and NPHII. 2) Explain lessons learned from the development of a national virtual network for performance improvement. 3) Discuss the possibilities for sustaining the PIM Network beyond the NPHII timeline.
