The adverse consequences of war have, over time, had an increasing impact on noncombatant civilians. These effects include directly causing morbidity and mortality, damaging the health-supporting infrastructure of society forcing people to migrate, diverting human and financial resources, and violating human rights. This presentation will describe the adverse health consequences to noncombatant civilians resulting from recent wars and describe what public health professionals can do to address these problems.
