This session will address the impact of the early years of the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) on key maternal and children health populations: women and children, adolescents, and children/youth with special health care needs. In addition, a perspective from the community in a state that has not embraced the ACA will be presented. The session will discuss the challenges and achievements of the ACA to date, as well as allow time for participation from the audience on their observations from their local communities and states.

Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: I am currently the co-principal investigator on two federally funded grants focused on improving coverage and financing of care for children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN), providing both research and technical assistance support to HHS grantees, states and other key stakeholders on implementation of the Affordable Care Act and its implications for CYSHCN.
