Few forces have as much power to shape public opinion as mass media. Drawing on his years of experience producing and directing major public health campaigns as Vice President of Documentary Films at HBO, John Hoffman, now CEO of the non-profit media company The Public Good Projects, will discuss the largely untapped role of media in improving the public’s health with a focus on his current effort, being developed in partnership with the Institute of Medicine, called A Healthy America. The goal of A Healthy America is to leverage the full power of marketing and the media to improve the health of the nation.

Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: I have spent my career creating media that aims to improve the public’s health. I am the CEO of The Public Good Projects. Prior to that, I spent 17 years at HBO focused on producing Emmy Award-winning documentary film series on crucial public health issues, including Addiction, The Alzheimer’s Project, and The Weight of the Nation.
