The crisis in primary care and behavioral health manifests in our community's emergency rooms. This session offers national and regional perspectives and is designed for researchers, policy makers and practitioners. Presentations will offer insight into national utilization trends and local outcomes, and findings that address improving treatment received in emergency room settings.
Session Objectives: Demonstrate potential linkages between project activities and improved outcomes in emergency room utilization, treatment program utilization, housing, employment and criminal justice involvement.
Identify correlates of post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms among high-risk adolescents in an urban emergency department setting. Discuss ways to improve access to primary care and reduce overutilization of emergency departments.
