Public Health Associations: a voice for global public health

Monday, November 2, 2015: 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Oral
The 14th World Congress on Public Health, which took place in February 2015 in Kolkata (India), brought together over 1640 people from 68 countries to discuss and debate public health issues and responses. This unique global event once again highlighted the important role public health associations and the World Federation of Public Health Associations (WFPHA) play as advocates for and implementers of innovative and effective policies and practices to improve population health and health equity. This session will present some of the innovative and interesting work being done by national PHAs domestically, regionally and globally.
Session Objectives: Describe and assess the impact of actions undertaken by national public health associations on creating the conditions for better population health and improved health equity and discuss ideas as to what national PHAs, and by extension, the WFPHA could focus on leading up to the 15th World Congress on Public Health in April 2017
