Implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and CHIP: Successes and Challenges

This session will address the impact of the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and CHIP on key maternal and children health populations: women and children, adolescents, and children/youth with special health care needs. The session will also focus on the impact of the ACA on public health departments and systems with a focus on steps they can take in the implementation of the ACA. The session will discuss the challenges and achievements of the ACA to date, as well as allow time for participation from the audience on their observation from their local communities and states.
Session Objectives: Identify the challenges and successes related to the implementation of the ACA on MCH populations
Discuss how public health departments at the state and local level can be involved in implementation of the ACA
Discuss solutions to challenges for MCH populations.
