16th Annual Avedis Donabedian Quality Award Session: Extraordinary Quality for Society’s Most Vulnerable patients

Session will feature presentation of the 16th annual quality assurance/improvement award to Rebecca Onie Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Healthleads, an extraordinary program dedicated to addressing the social needs of the most vulnerable patients, by connecting patients to the basic resources they need to be healthy. Dr. Onie, an inspiring leader and motivating speaker will receive the awad and be the keynote speaker talking about her journey and current areas of work. This will be complemented by a presentation from an equally accomplished local health center leader from Chicago, Dr. Lee Frances who has led Erie clinic delivering care at 9 community clinics on Chicago’s West and Northwest sides. He will discuss current challenges and opportunities under the ACA for community clinics serving Chicago’s poorest neighborhoods.
Session Objectives: Discuss ways Healthleads identifies and addresses social determinants of health. Describe the experiences and challenges facing Erie clinic and other neighborhood clinics under the ACA. Identify particularly promising and inspiring new models for delivering care to medically underserved patients and communities.
