5193.0 The Head Start / Oral Health Partnership

The purpose of this session is to share information on the 2010 redesigned Head Start T/TA System and the newly funded National Centers including the Center for Health. Head Start oral health partnerships at federal, state and local levels will be discussed. Programs that include prevention of disease, oral health education and referrals to dental homes for children enrolled in Head Start will be highlighted. Presenters will discuss Strategies for successful collaboration to improve the oral health of this population.
Session Objectives: Define the partnership between Head Start and oral health- including the redesigned Head Start Training/Technical Assistance System Describe state and local efforts of collaboration between Head Start and oral health Identify resources and promising practices that support partnerships and efforts to improve the oral health of Head Start children and families
