Oral
This session is designed to introduce student and early career public health physical activity, nutrition and obesity researchers to publicly available data resources, research examples using these data resources and an introduction to NIH funding mechanisms for secondary data analysis. The overall goal of the session is to provide participants with information about publically available data focusing on examples of datasets across policy, environmental and individual levels and resources and how to use them effectively in their research. The session will highlight examples of research using these data and methodological considerations for using and accessing publically available data. Attendees will benefit from a deeper understanding of how to apply available scientific resources and tools to address physical activity, diet and obesity research questions. Participants are encouraged to bring laptops or tablets with wi-fi connection to explore data resources presented during the session.
