Health care coverage is the beginning, not the end. Real connections to community are needed. Population management and social movements isolated from a health equity lens cannot activate community empowerment. The IOM Roundtable harvests lessons for wider community dissemination and potential for scalability and to inform public policy.
Session Objectives: Discuss the importance of keeping a focus on achieving health equity in the aftermath of the passage of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
Identify the potential of social movement and community connections for activating community empowerment.
