At this session, six presenters will describe the Ebola virus disease epidemic in West Africa and its public health implications. The speakers will address this topic from various perspectives, including community measures for control of the epidemic, epidemiology of cases, measures being taken to prevent the spread of the epidemic to other countries, a perspective from nurses in the United States, and ethical issues.
Session Objectives: Describe the important public health features of the Ebola virus disease epidemic in West Africa.
Describe the roles of public health professionals in addressing this major epidemic.
